05Publication sources

Where must a publication be listed?

OR includes a work found in either selected source. AND requires it in every selected source. Select one source to use that source alone. OpenAlex-only authorship suggestions are excluded until supported by a CV or Scholar.

06Citations

For the selected publications, where should citations come from?

The citation graph counts citations in the year they were received. Stored per-publication annual histories currently come from OpenAlex, so the fallback option uses OpenAlex here.

07Citation weights

Should citations from some journals count more?

Weights multiply each publication’s citation count. They do not change publication counts.

Set the journal weighting formula on the Journals page ↗ (opens in a new tab, so you can keep these answers). Edit the visible formula, then save your weights.

08Graph Y axes

What should each graph’s vertical axis measure?

Total counts department output. Mean and median describe its academics. A formula combines the total, mean, median, and number of academics.

Aggregation formulas use total, mean, median, and people; for example mean * log(1 + people). Journal weights are chosen separately above.
